Proud Sponsor of Team Allied Services and You
MotorWorld Toyota and MotorWorld | MileOne Autogroup are proud sponsors of Team Allied Services and You. In fact, MileOne Autogroup is a long-time supporter of Allied Services, donating year after year to support therapy services and programs for children with disabilities and life-changing injuries in NE and Central Pennsylvania. The community-minded organization recently held a free car safety event at MotorWorld in Wilkes-Barre.
Free Car Safety Check and Distribution
MotorWorld | MileOne Autogroup, in partnership with the Traffic Injury Prevention Project (TIPP) and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), came together to give away car seats to Northeastern Pennsylvania families in need during Child Passenger Safety Week. On Sept. 20, families — all of whom registered in advance — received car seats and heard from Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians, who provided information on all aspects of the car seats, including proper harnessing and installation. During the event in Wilkes-Barre, MotorWorld | MileOne Autogroup aimed to distribute approximately 50 car seats while helping area families receive the training necessary to keep their children safe.
During Child Passenger Safety Week (Sept. 17 - 23, 2023), parents and caregivers are urged to protect their child’s future at every stage of life by making sure they secure them in the correct car seat for their age, height, and weight. According to information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), traffic crashes continue to be a leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 4. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) notes that about 5,000 children are involved in car crashes in the United States each year, and 42% of children killed are unrestrained. The NHTSA also estimates that child safety seats reduce fatal injury by 71% for infants younger than a year old and 54% for toddlers in passenger vehicles.
From September 2023 to the end of the year, MileOne Autogroup aims to distribute approximately 600 car seats valued at approximately $60,000 across its Hall, Herb Gordon, Heritage, and MotorWorld divisions. This initiative is made possible by MileOneCares, the newly launched corporate giving program of MileOne Autogroup, which primarily focuses on transportation-related initiatives and strengthening the communities in which MileOne Autogroup dealerships are located.
Since 1984, the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics has operated the Traffic Injury Prevention Project (TIPP) under contract with PennDOT. TIPP is a statewide project focused on traffic safety issues for children birth to 21 years. These topics include car seats and transportation of children with special health care needs. TIPP also provides print materials, training and technical assistance, and management of the Pennsylvania Car Seat Loan Program.
