The Allied Services Skilled Nursing Centers and Transitional Rehab Units in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre have earned an impressive five national awards for excellence in short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and in overall quality measures for patient care in review of nearly 15,000 nursing homes rated across the country.
Earlier this year, the Scranton-based Skilled Nursing Center, located on Smallacombe Drive off the Morgan Highway, was awarded the AHCA/NCAL (American Health Care Association / National Center for Assisted Living) Bronze National Quality Award. The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is a rigorous, three-level process reviewed and evaluated by trained experts against a set of nationally recognized standards for organizational excellence. The standards of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program help organizations achieve superior performance over time to improve the quality of life and care of long-term care residents.
In addition, both the Allied Services Center City Skilled Nursing Center and the Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing Center in Wilkes-Barre have been designated “High Performing” by U.S. News & World Report in its 2026 Best Nursing Homes ratings, in two categories: Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care.
The two Skilled Nursing Homes in Downtown Wilkes-Barre were acquired from the Diocese of Scranton in October 2019 by Allied Services Integrated Health System. The former Little Flower Manor on Meade Street and St. Luke’s Villa on Northampton Street have been completely transformed on the interior by Allied Services. The Skilled Nursing leadership has expanded staffing competencies and offerings from wound care and respiratory therapy services, while maintaining the same religious traditions and high standards provided by the Diocese & Carmelite Order for many years.
These awards, and accolades add to the legacy of compassionate care that Allied Services Skilled Nursing practices are rooted in. Quality of care, aesthetically pleasing environments, as well as expert, competent professional staffing in our communities are the foundations of Skilled Nursing at Allied Services.
Finally, the two Transitional Rehab Units in Allied Services’ Scranton and Wilkes-Barre Twp rehabilitation hospitals have once again earned U.S. News & World Report Best Nursing Homes for Short Term Rehabilitation respectively. Each Transitional Rehabilitation Unit provides expert therapy, skilled nursing care, social work support and other important services for rehabilitation success while earning the U.S. News & World Report Best Nursing Home designation for nearly a decade.
Best Nursing Homes ratings are based on U.S. News’s in-depth analysis of publicly available data, including information that is not factored into CMS’s star ratings. Unlike the star ratings, U.S. News publishes separate evaluations of Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care; only 19% of U.S. SNFs earned a High Performing rating in even one of those categories.
