The COVID rehab program at Allied Services Integrated Health System provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for the rehabilitation of patients post COVID-19. Some individuals who have recovered from active COVID-19 infection continue to have physical, cognitive and mental difficulties. Allied Services is dedicated to providing specialized care to help people regain their abilities, independence and quality of life.

COVID-19 can affect the body in a variety of ways. Some people may only experience very mild symptoms, while others may develop severe symptoms that last several weeks or months.

Common post-COVID symptoms:

• Shortness of breath
• Fatigue
• Weakness and poor endurance
• Balance problems
• De-conditioning
• Functional impairment
• Muscle, nerve and joint pain
• Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
• Cognitive impairment
• Anxiety and depression

A Team Approach to COVID Rehab

Recovery following the active COVID-19 infection may take place in one of our inpatient rehabilitation or transitional rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient rehabilitation centers, or at home, depending on the individual's needs and abilities. Our multidisciplinary team consists of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, medical social workers, case managers, and rehabilitation nurses. At every stage of your recovery, our rehabilitation specialists will develop and deliver an individualized treatment plan to support A fuller recovery and improved quality of life.

Specialized Care

Individuals recovering from COVID-19 can benefit from a comprehensive rehabilitation program. The COVID rehab program addresses a wide range of symptoms that have a negative impact on quality of life. COVID rehab may include:

• Physical therapy to address muscle and joint pain, endurance, mobility and balance, and lasting weakness
• Occupational therapy to improve the ability to perform activities of daily living
• Cognitive rehabilitation featuring memory training and speech therapy to address issues with concentration, memory, mood, and thinking
• Speech therapy to address issues with swallowing

Referrals & Insurance

Patients need a prescription from their doctor in order to enroll in the COVID rehab program at Allied Services. Insurance coverage for this program is provided by most health insurance policies.
